OUR USA Made "Poor Mans Power Steering" for THE "STEERING SHAFT" only (This is not our front spindle "Poor Mans Power Steering Kit" But this makes a great pair to that kit offered on this site!)
This kit contains thrust washers and needle-bearing washer and is best used "under" the steering wheel most times in placement of the heavy spacer under wheel. But depending on the tractor year/model, wear, and needed adjustment it may need to be used in conjunction with other washers/spacers/shims under kit and or under the steering wheel. Be sure to grease on install as well as in regular maintenance. Can Work on "most" garden tractor manual steer models.
We HIGHLY Recommend using our Steering Shaft Install/Refresh kit when doing any steering shaft, steering wheel, or gear installs, upgrades, or work. Kit can be seen HERE
SHOP TIP- You want very slight up and down movement of the steering wheel as long as teeth engagement meshing and spacing of lower gears is good. You DO NOT want it too tight where there is constant pressure on the steering shaft and poor man's components. - Always grease all components of kit, shaft and gears on install and regularly. Also, make sure the steering shaft is not shimmed too much where it is very tight. There needs to be slight up and down play but not a lot. The same goes for the teeth engagement on the two gears they should not bind or be extremely tight. There needs to be slight space and very slight play between teeth when steering wheel is very slightly wiggled back and forth.
